Matt- Residence Modules

I redesigned the modules for the residences since we talked last class... and right now I am working on a rendering in photoshop of what I want the residences to look like with scale figures and materiality...I will post it as soon as I finish..also some sketches I did prior to working on the sketch up model

  1. Oh and I was thinking about what to do with the dead space underneath the modules..I was thinking in addition to some small storage maybe having a water collection feature where rain water is collected using the pitch of the roof and it flows down into a small pool underneath the modules next to the path..it would be a way of collecting water from each module and the water will eventually flow into a retention pond at the end of the path.. I figure the water will reflect light into the dark areas under the modules as well as create interesting reflections on the underside of the modules...just a thought.

  3. I think the water retention idea is a good one. Evaporative cooling in the summer. Can you get heat gain in the winter? What is the storage like? Is this water for bathing? The sketches are good at showing some of your intentions.

  4. What about connections? Connection to the earth – to each other? How does the water connect? How do the people flow? Make us a diagram by sketching the various conditions.

Does the path from the rooms connect to the main building? What about the main building? How does it touch the earth? Is it similar to the rooms or is it “grounded”. Post some sketches of the way you see the public interaction in the main space(s).
